Kings Mountain Chapter 
 

The Kings Mountain Chapter of the Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution is located in the Tri-Cities area of East TN (Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol).  We have members from all over the East TN area and beyond.

The Kings Mountain Chapter meets once a month with the exceptions of January and July. The meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month. The meetings, both dinner and business, are normally held at 6:00 PM at the Empire Buffet, 2614 N. Roan St., Johnson City, TN and includes wives and guests.  Please review the Calendar page for current meeting information and map as meetings are sometimes held at special locations.

Visitors who are interested in joining the Sons of the American Revolution are welcome to attend any of the chapter meetings, but prior reservations are requested. Please contact the chapter Secretary John Kubenka or the chapter President Darryl Addington at the e-mail address listed above.


Chapter Background

The Kings Mountain Chapter received its Charter from the Tennessee Society of the Sons of the American Revolution on the 20th of October 1966. The charter members were Dr. Ray Mettetal, President, William P. Bailey, Jr., Joseph K. Barker, Robert E. L. Barker, Robert E. L. Barker, Jr., Edward T. Brading, Leland K. Cardwell, Jere Michael Disney, Samuel K. Doak, Charles H. Dubbs, John B. Ellery, Wade H. Fleenor, Calvin C. Frey, Carl A. Jones, Clifford A.Maxwell, John Alan Maxwell, Martin Jerone Mettetal, Charles 0. Parker, Jr., Lester Talley Scott, William A. Starritt, Jr., and Frederick Charles Uhlmann.

The chapter has supported the ROTC/JROTC programs in the area for a number of years. These high schools include: Science Hill High School, Unicoi County High School, Daniel Boone High School, David Crockett High School, Sullivan North High School, Sullivan East High School, Sullivan South High School, Dobyns Bennett High School, Tennessee High School, Cherokee High School, Volunteer High School, Greeneville High School, Chucky Doak / North Greene High Schools. The chapter also supports a senior ROTC Unit at East Tennessee State University.

The chapter has developed a program of marking the graves of Revolutionary War Patriots and deceased members of the Sons of the American Revolution Society.

In addition to service in the local chapter, our members also serve in State of Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution and the National Society Sons of the American Revolution.
